Shreveport Police arrest suspect in Family Dollar robbery

Shreveport Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery last week at a Family Dollar store.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. on July 8, 2009, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a reported armed robbery at the Family Dollar in the 2000 block of Centenary Blvd. A witness told investigators that a male suspect entered the store, produced a black semi-automatic handgun, and demanded money from the clerk at gunpoint. The suspect, described a black male wearing a white t-shirt, dark pants with a purple bandanna covering half of his face, received an undisclosed amount of money and fled the store on foot. No one was injured during the robbery.

Based on evidence recovered at the scene and other information gathered by investigators, a suspect was developed. Upon further investigation, detectives were able to arrest 24 year old Kevin Scott of the 200 block of Merrick St. in Shreveport. Scott has been booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of armed robbery.
