FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shreveport Police arrest suspect in jewelry thefts

Shreveport Police have arrested a Bossier City woman in connection with several theft cases.

In late June, Detective Alison Azlin received information from a patrol officer that an employee at a cleaning service might be stealing jewelry from houses that she was cleaning. Detective Azlin immediately began an investigation and discovered that Donna Johnson, an employee of the cleaning service “Maid For You”, had pawned several items of jewelry. Detective Azlin subsequently contacted victims of these thefts who were able to identify their stolen jewelry as that which had been pawned by Johnson.

Detective Azlin has arrested Donna Johnson, 50 years old, of the 4800 block of Barksdale Blvd. in Bossier City, and charged her with felony theft in connection to two separate cases where jewelry was stolen from homes that Johnson was hired to clean. Johnson was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of felony theft. Detective Azlin has recovered more jewelry Johnson pawned that does not match items named in theft reports already on file and she believes there are other victims who might not realize they have been victimized.

Detectives are still working these cases and urge anyone who might have been victimized and not reported the theft to call Detective Alison Azlin at 673-6985 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
