FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Robbery foiled by business owner

Shreveport Police are investigating an early morning attempted robbery that may have left one of the would be bandits wounded.

At approximately 12:15 a.m. this morning, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to Mitchell’s Transmission in the 3100 block of Morningside Dr. relative to an attempted robbery. Upon arrival there, officers discovered that three male suspects had attempted to rob the owner of Mitchell’s Transmission as he closed the business. The victim reported to officers that the three males, each wearing a ski mask and one armed with a sawed off shotgun, demanded money from him. The victim advised he then pulled his handgun and fired two shots at the suspects, who subsequently fled the scene on foot. The victim was not injured.

A short time later, at approximately 12:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to Willis Knighton North relative to a man in the emergency room there with a gun shot wound. Upon arrival at the hospital, officers contacted 20 year old Derrick Glover, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Glover told officers he had been shot by an unknown male suspect somewhere on Kent. St. in Shreveport.

Detectives are working now to determine if these two incidents are related in any way. Anyone with any information regarding this robbery and shooting is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or CrimeStoppers at 318-673-7373.
