Two armed robbery suspects arrested

Shreveport Police have charged two men in connection with an armed robbery this morning that left one robber suffering from a gunshot wound.

At approximately 7:00 a.m. this morning, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the Village Food Store located in the 300 block of N. Thomas relative to a robbery. Upon arrival there, officers discovered that a male suspect entered the store at approximately 6:50 a.m. this morning and tried to buy an 18 pack of beer. When the clerk refused to sell the beer to the man until 7:00 a.m., an argument ensued. During this verbal conflict, the clerk observed that the suspect was armed with a handgun partially concealed in his waistband. Suddenly the suspect took the beer and walked out of the store without paying for it. The clerk followed him outside and as the clerk tried to retrieve the stolen beer, the suspect reached down as if he was going to pull the handgun and then threatened the clerk. The clerk subsequently produced his own handgun and shot the suspect once in the thigh. The suspect then got into a blue SUV being driven by another male suspect and they both fled the scene.

Patrol officers located the vehicle in short order and stopped the suspects at Fulton and N. Hearne, taking them both into custody. Officers called the Shreveport Fire Department to the scene and they transported the wounded bandit to LSUHSC with what has been described as a non life threatening wound. Detectives seized a handgun from the blue 1997 Chevrolet Suburban the suspects were in.

Detectives have arrested 27 year old Decorey Thomas of the 400 block of Chickasaw Tr. in Shreveport and charged him with one count of armed robbery. Thomas was the wounded suspect and he is currently at LSUHSC. Also arrested was 23 year old Johnathan Winslow of the 400 block of Chickasaw Tr. in Shreveport. Winslow has been charged with one count of armed robbery as well.
