FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shreveport Police arrest suspect in stabbing

Shreveport Police have arrested a suspect in connection with an afternoon stabbing that left a local man suffering from serious injuries.

At approximately 3:20 p.m. this afternoon, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Pete Harris relative to a stabbing. Upon arrival there, officers discovered 60 year old Albert Williams suffering from two stab wounds to his back. Albert Williams was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department. Patrol officers almost immediately located the suspect, identified as 49 year old Charles Ray Williams, and, after a brief foot pursuit, took him into custody. Officers recovered the knife believed to have been used in the stabbing.

Detective Rod Johnson has learned that the suspect and the victim, who are not related, apparently had an argument that escalated from a verbal confrontation to a physical one, during which Charles Ray Williams produced a knife and stabbed Albert Williams. Charles Ray Williams has been booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of aggravated battery.
