FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shreveport Police investigating homicide

Shreveport Police are investigating a shooting that left one local man dead and another behind bars.

At approximately 5:35 p.m. on July 2, 2009, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the King’s Manor I Apartments in the 7200 block of Bernstein Ave. relative to a shooting. Upon arrival there, officers discovered 24 year old Deroderick Randle suffering from at least nine gunshot wounds. Randle was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department where he was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators have learned that Randle came to the residence of 21 year old Adrian Cook there in the 7200 block of Bernstein Ave. to apparently make some type of narcotics transaction. It appears that during the course of this transaction, Randle, armed with a revolver, attempted to rob Cook of a quantity of narcotics. Cook then produced a semi-automatic handgun and the two exchanged gunfire. Cook and one other person inside the apartment were not injured.

Detectives have now charged Adrian Cook with one count of second degree murder in connection with the death of Deroderick Randle. Cook has been booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
