Shreveport Police charge suspect in homicide Shreveport Police have charged a man arrested during a pursuit last Friday in connection with Shreveport’s latest homicide.
Shreveport Police detectives have charged 26 year old Benny Richmond, Jr., of the 3000 block of Lindholm St. in Shreveport, with one count each of principle to second degree murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. These charges stem from the investigation into the homicide of 22 year old Kevin Powell, who was shot to death in the 700 block of Bringhurst on June 11, 2009.
Richmondwas arrested for aggravated flight, possession of a Schedule II narcotic, and several warrants after he fled from officers on the afternoon of June 12, 2009. Cpl. Lowell Bowen shot at Richmond three times as Richmond apparently tried to run down officers in his attempt to avoid capture. Richmond was not struck by gunfire and Cpl. Bowen was not injured.
Detectives are still actively investigating the murder of Kevin Powell and are asking anyone who might have information regarding the case to call them at 318-673-6955 or CrimeStoppers at 318-673-7373. spd- View all SPD press releases at www.shreveportla.gov |
