Shreveport Police arrest suspect for child desertion

Shreveport Police detectives have arrested a Shreveport woman this morning for child desertion and improper supervision of a minor.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. this morning, patrol officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Browning St. relative to a two year old male child wandering around in the street by himself. Upon arrival, officers located the child and rescued him from his perilous predicament. Officers went door to door throughout the neighborhood in an effort to locate a family member of the child, but to no avail. Child Protection was notified and responded to the scene to take custody of the little boy.

Detectives were notified and immediately began an investigation. As a result of this investigation, detectives have arrested the child's aunt, 32 year old Jacqueline Stroughter, of the 700 block of Browning in Shreveport, and charged her with one count each of child desertion and improper supervision of a minor. The little boy, who was not injured during this ordeal, is still in protective custody at this time.
