FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shreveport Police searching for suspect in shooting

Shreveport Police are looking for a local man wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred back in May.

On May 19, 2009, officers responded to the 7100 block of Karen St. relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, identified as Sharafat Khan, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers subsequently learned that the suspect entered the residence through an unsecured door and demanded money from Khan at gunpoint. Khan gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money and then the suspect began to strike him, demanding more money. During this physical altercation, the suspect fired at least two shots, one of them striking the victim in the chest. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

Following an in-depth investigation, Detective Russell Ross has identified the suspect that robbed and shot Khan as 23 year old Roderick Parker of the 5300 block of Virginia in Shreveport. There is an arrest warrant outstanding for Roderick Parker, charging him with one count of attempted first degree murder. Parker's bond has been set at $100,000. Investigators believe Roderick Parker should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone having any information regarding Roderick Parker or his whereabouts is urged to call Detective Russell Ross at 318-673-6955 or Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
