Shreveport Police Officer cited for property damage

Shreveport Police detectives have charged a patrol officer this afternoon with one count of simple criminal damage to property in connection with a complaint received by the department back in early May.

On May 2, 2009 at around 8:30 p.m., Shreveport Police received a report from a concerned citizen regarding a uniformed officer damaging a vehicle parked in the 9000 block of Youree Dr. A police supervisor was immediately dispatched to the scene and contacted the victim who advised that a uniformed officer operating a marked patrol unit had punctured a tire on his vehicle. Shreveport Police detectives were notified and an investigation commenced in reference to this allegation.

Based on evidence gathered by detectives and witness statements, investigators have charged 34 year old Ronald Debello with one count of simple criminal damage to property. Debello was issued a misdemeanor summons by investigators.

Debello, who joined the Shreveport Police Department in February of 2006, has been placed on administrative leave by Shreveport Police Chief Henry Whitehorn.
