Shreveport Police post results of safety checkpoints

The Shreveport Police Department held several safety checkpoints last week throughout Shreveport as part of an ongoing, proactive effort to address traffic issues and reduce the number of traffic fatalities in our city.

Officers working these checkpoints, which were held last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, wrote a total of 185 traffic citations. 89 of these citations were for safety belt violations and 14 citations were issued for child restraint violations. 22 citations were issued for railroad grade violations.

Officers made 1 arrest for D.W.I. and 2 narcotic arrests, 1 for possession of a Schedule I narcotic, and 1 for possession of a Schedule I narcotic with intent to distribute. 3 people were arrested for outstanding warrants.
