Shreveport Police investigating robbery, shooting

Shreveport Police detectives are investigating an early morning robbery and shooting that took place in west Shreveport.

At approximately 1: 52 a.m. this morning, officers were dispatched out to the 7100 block of Karen St. relative to a robbery during which the victim had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, identified as Sharafat Khan, suffering from a gun shot wound to the chest. Upon investigation, officers learned that the suspect entered the residence through an unsecured door and demanded money from Khan at gunpoint. Khan gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money and then the suspect began to strike him, demanding more money. During this physical altercation, the suspect fired at least two shots, one of them striking the victim in the chest. The suspect subsequently fled on foot. Khan was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with life threatening injuries.

Investigators describe the suspect as a light complexioned black male in his early 20s, approximately 5’6” tall, thin build, with a thin face and fine facial features. The suspect was armed with what has been described as a small, black, semi-automatic handgun.
