Shreveport Police arrest two men, recover stolen cigarettes

Shreveport Police patrol officers have arrested two local men in connection with an early morning robbery and theft.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. this morning, officers were dispatched to a convenience store in the 3300 block of Bert Kouns relative to a simple robbery. Upon arrival there, officers learned that two black male suspects entered the business and held the clerk at bay while they stole numerous cartons of cigarettes. The suspects then fled the scene. The clerk was able to provide officers with a description of not only the offenders, but the vehicle they left the scene in. A short time later, police received another call regarding two black male suspects stealing cartons of cigarettes at a convenience store in the 100 block of Bert Kouns. Officers on patrol located the suspect vehicle on Linwood and, after a short pursuit, were able to stop the vehicle at Alto Vista Ave. and Corbitt St.

Officers arrested 46 year old Kenneth Harvey of the 400 block of Champ Clark in Shreveport, and booked him into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of simple robbery, one count of felony theft of goods, and one count of flight in a vehicle. Also arrested was 43 year old Stephen Lovelace of the 1400 block of Oxford in Shreveport. Lovelace was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of simple robbery and one count of felony theft of goods

Officers were able to recover approximately 16 cartons of Kool cigarettes and 2 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes. Each carton was valued at almost $45.00 Detectives are now investigating these cases and working to determine if the suspects are responsible for any other similar crimes.
