Shreveport Police Officer injured during arrest A Shreveport Police patrol officer was injured this afternoon during the arrest of a shoplifting suspect.
At approximately 1:40 p.m. this afternoon, Cpl. Scott Deen was dispatched to the Old Navy store in the 6600 block of Youree Dr. relative to a shoplifter in the store. Upon arrival Cpl. Deen learned that the suspect had fled the Old Navy store and entered another store in the same shopping center. Cpl. Deen contacted the suspect and as he attempted to arrest her, she began to resist violently. During the course of the struggle the suspect attempted to stab Cpl. Deen with a pen and then proceeded to bite the officer's right ear. Cpl. Deen was finally able to get the suspect under control and took her into custody.
According to police supervisor Sgt. Bobby Grant, Cpl. Deen suffered minor scratches in addition to a serious injury to his right ear that was very badly bitten by the suspect. The suspect, identified as 18 year old Kashika Jones of the 4200 block of Rightway in Shreveport, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of felony theft of goods, one count of felony battery on an officer, and one count of resisting an officer. A woman accompanying Jones, 21 year old Ambrie Hughes of the 3400 block of Fulton in Shreveport, was also arrested by officers and booked into the Shreveport City Jail as a fugitive from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office.
