Fourteen to graduate Citizens Police Academy

Fourteen citizens will graduate from the Shreveport Police Department’s 29th Citizens Police Academy tomorrow evening.

The Citizens Police Academy is an action packed and informative course where participants are given an inside view of the Shreveport Police Department. A wide range of topics are discussed, including patrol procedures, special response teams, narcotics and gang investigations, crime scene investigations, internal affairs procedures, and use of force policies.

“Trainees” are involved in numerous hands on practical exercises involving traffic stops, building searches, and the proper use of firearms. Participants are also encouraged to ride along with a Shreveport police officer and observe first hand a day in the life of a patrol officer.

The graduation ceremony, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., is being held at the Shreveport Police Regional Training Academy located at 6440 Greenwood Rd.
