SPD Operation Closed Market Nets 24 Arrests

Today members of the Shreveport/Caddo Narcotics Task Force, Street Level Interdiction Unit, Shreveport City Marshall, Caddo Parish K-9 and the Shreveport Police Department Traffic Bureau conducted a successful operation focusing on vehicle violations, transportation of illegal narcotics/weapons by vehicle and other felony and misdemeanor offenses.

Members of these agencies were divided into multiple teams, deployed to a minimum of four locations throughout the Shreveport area focused on conducting traffic stops, issuing citations/summons, conducting criminal background checks and if necessary, affecting arrests. Intelligence was gathered months prior to the operation which lead authorities to believe these areas selected for this enforcement may have the highest yield for narcotics related violations.

The operation concluded shortly after 4:30 PM with the following results:

225 Citations Issued

9 Felony Arrests

15 Misdemeanor Arrests

3 Vehicles Impounded

3 Juvenile Citations Issued (Truancy)

13.5 Grams of Marijuana

2 Tablets of Ecstacy

1 Semi Automatic Pistol

Other Narcotics Seized: 110 Pills (Burstpironhydrochloride)
