Details on Vehicle Fatality from Weekend

A 2 year old juvenile has now died from a 2 vehicle crash which claimed one victim Saturday evening.

Vehicle #1 driven by Shirley Mourning, B/F DOB 09/08/1953 from Shreveport was traveling westbound on Tate St. approaching the intersection of Tate St. and Broadway.

That's when Mourning ran a stop sign causing a vehicle headed southbound on Tate, driven by Roshanda Doc, B/F DOB 07/20/1982 also of Shreveport to hit the passenger side of Mourning's vehicle killing Lashanda Thomas, B/F 44 y/o of Shreveport.

A 2 year old Juvenile riding in Mournings vehicle was later pronounced dead at LSUHSC.

All occupants and drivers (with the exception of L. Thomas) involved in the crash were transported by Fire Department personnel to LSUHSC.

According to the initial report, the two juveniles in the back of vehicle #1 were unrestrained at the time of the crash and it is unknown where they were seated.

Blood was taken from both drivers to determine if alcohol was also a contributing factor in the crash.

The BAC results are pending. Charges are pending. Investigation to continue.
