On Wednesday April 8, 2009 at approximately 2:00 PM, The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was searching for fugitive Andy Pearce for several outstanding warrants. The suspect was positively identified standing near a Red SUV and appeared to be striking his children with a white pipe object.
U.S. Marshals took Pearce to into custody and detained his wife, Sarah Pearce and her father-in-law, Andy Pearce, Sr. as they tried to leave the area in another vehicle. Investigators from the Shreveport Police Department Youth Bureau and Child Protection Services were summoned to assist with the custody of the children.
The suspect Pearce was searched for officer safety by the U.S. Marshals and a switch blade, methamphetamine, a small bag containing over 20 ID's, several check books, not belonging to the suspect or his family, and several pawn shop tickets.
Andy Pearce Jr. was charged with possession of a weapon and narcotics with children present. Pearce was also charged with improper supervision of minors for leaving the children in a hot vehicle. Other charges are pending.
