Shreveport Police make arrest in W. Canal St. homicide

Shreveport Police detectives have made an arrest in the homicide that occurred on W. Canal St. last night.

Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to the 5900 block of W. Canal St. at approximately 8:40 p.m. last night relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered 17 year old Isiah Ellis suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Ellis was subsequently transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department where he was pronounced deceased.

Detectives immediately began their investigation and have arrested a Shreveport man in connection with this murder. 19 year old Tamontrell Thornton was booked into the Shreveport City Jail at 5:00 a.m. this morning on one count of second degree homicide.
