***Update*** Detective injured in crash

The Shreveport Police Department is releasing the name of the detective injured last night in a two vehicle crash on Stoner Ave.

Detective Roy Menefee was transported to an area hospital last night after his unmarked police unit was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Stoner and Creswell. Menefee, a ten year veteran of the force received what was described as moderate injuries during the crash.

A Shreveport Police detective has been injured in a two vehicle crash this evening at the intersection of Stoner and Creswell.

The detective was headed west bound on Stoner at approximately 7:00 p.m. in an unmarked police unit when another vehicle traveling north on Creswell struck the police car. Officers investigating the incident advised it appears that the north bound vehicle ran a red light causing the crash. The officer has been transported to an area hospital by the Shreveport Fire Department with what has been described as serious but non- life threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a local hospital as well with minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash is being issued at least one citation for running a red light. The investigation is currently ongoing.
