Shreveport Police arrest robbery suspect
Shreveport police have arrested a local man wanted in connection with at least three robberies of area businesses. At approximately 6:10 p.m. this evening, Shreveport Police received information regarding the whereabouts of Nakia Bates, a suspect who has three warrants outstanding for his arrest for first degree robbery. Patrol officers following up on the tip located Bates riding in a vehicle at the intersection of Union and Hollywood. Officers initiated a traffic stop at which time Bates exited the vehicle and fled on foot in an attempt to evade capture. After a rather lengthy foot pursuit, Bates was located hiding under a residence in the 1800 block of Corbitt. He was subsequently taken into custody. Shreveport Police detectives were on scene and are interviewing Nakia Bates at this time in reference to as many as eleven robberies that he may have been involved in. Bates will be booked into the Shreveport City Jail on the three outstanding warrants as well as any other robberies the detectives determine he is responsible for. Anyone with any information regarding these cases is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or CrimeStoppers at 318-673-7373. View all SPD press releases at www.shreveportla.gov
