Shreveport Police arrest suspect for cruelty to juvenile

Shreveport Police have arrested a local man for cruelty to a juvenile after responding to a call for service requesting officers check on the welfare of a child.

At approximately 8:50 a.m. this morning, patrol officers responded to a residence in the 3400 block of Pleasant Dr. to check on the welfare of a child at that location. Upon arrival there, officers discovered a 2 year old child with injuries to the head and face. After interviewing witnesses, officers learned that an adult male suspect beat the child with his fists. Officers were able to contact the suspect who was subsequently arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of cruelty to a juvenile.

The suspect is identified as Jackie Carter, 46 years old, of the 3400 block of Pleasant Dr. in Shreveport.

Child Protection and Shreveport Police detectives have been notified and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
