First Homicide of year closed by arrest

On 1/22/09, Shreveport Violent Crime Investigators arrested and charged Dave Lee Carter, b/m, DOB 09/06/1989 for the January 14th slaying of Scotty D. Green of the 4100 block of Ester.

Patrol officers responded to an EMS call at the above location. Upon arrival, SFD informed arriving officers the victim was deceased and possibly foul play may be involved. During the investigation, information was provided through witness interviews, Crime Stopper tips and phone calls, all indicating Carter was a possible suspect and he was currently jailed at Bossier Correctional on fraud charges. Investigators contacted and interviewed Carter obtaining a confession to the murder. A First Degree Murder warrant was obtained on January 21, 2009 and a detained placed on him. The investigation is still ongoing.
