Shreveport City Employee arrested

During the evening of November 7, 2008, police officers responded to a shoplifting call at the Village Mart in the 2500 block of Hollywood. Responding officers learned from witnesses that an off-duty Shreveport City Jail employee had concealed items on their person and left the business without paying for them. Jiontanelle Owens, was charged with one count of misdemeanor theft and issued a summons to appear in City Court.

Owens has been employed as a Jailer for the City Jail since August of 2007. Owens was immediately placed on Administrative Leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
