Pedestrian struck and killed last night

Shreveport Police worked an accident last night where a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car.

Shortly before 11:00 PM last night a Ford Focus driven by Emily Jo Heflin, White Female DOB 07/20/1988, was traveling southbound in the 3000 block of North Market.

That is where her vehicle struck and killed Tommy Jackson, Black Male DOB 09/05/1954, from the 1900 Legardy in Shreveport

Jackson was transported to LSU-HSC where he was pronounced deceased.

Heflin was transported to Willis Knighten North where she provided a blood sample to determine if she had any alcohol in her blood.

Based on witness statements at the scene no charges are expected to be filed against Mrs Heflin.

While providing traffic control assistance at the accident scene an officer injured his shoulder.

The officer was transported to Willis Knighten Hospital for minor injuries to their shoulder.
