FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Recruit Bus will be out twice this week

In conjunction with National Night Out, the Shreveport Police Department's Recruiting Bus will be at two different locations this week to answer questions and help citizens sign up to be Shreveport Police officers.

The bus will be at Wal-Mart on Bert Kouns on the day of National Night Out, which is tomorrow (Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) The bus will then make its way to Benton on Friday, Aug. 8, and will be parked in the Brookshire's parking lot.

With businesses cutting back and employees being laid off, now is a great time to consider becoming a Shreveport Police officer.

Police officers are paid $2,179 per month while attending Police Academy. Upon completion of the 16-week academy, salary increases to $2,750 per month. One year after hire date, officers receive an additional $425 in State Supplemental Pay, making their monthly income $3,175 per month.

Information can be left with Crime Stoppers at 673-7373 or by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.crimestoppersshreveportcaddo.com.
