Shooting and filing a false police report

Detectives have determined that the woman who was taken to the hospital today with a gunshot wound to the chest actually inflicted the injury to herself.

There were several scenarios provided to investigators, including something about an abduction in the woman's yard and a dispute over a dog.

None of these held up to detective scrutiny and upon questioning, the victim admitted to shooting herself. At this time, it is not known whether it was a suicide attempt or accidental shooting.

She is currently in the hospital, but she will be charged with filing a false police report.

The woman also will be given a psychiatric exam. Because of this, her name will not be released at this time.
