Operation AGUILA Nets 147 Arrests in a One Week Period

Shreveport, LA – While Operation FALCON was underway in Alexandria and Lafayette, the U.S. Marshals formed a much smaller operation in Shreveport which was dubbed Operation AGUILA, which is Spanish for Eagle, and ran simultaneously to Operation FALCON. The Shreveport operation was a scaled down version from previous years and only involved three (3) arrest teams.

Shreveport combined the collective efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies focusing on capturing individuals wanted on felony charges, including sex offenders and fugitives wanted for crimes of violence. Over the course of the five-day operation, Deputy U.S. Marshals, teamed with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, arresting 147 fugitives and clearing 153 warrants.

Each of these arrests carries with it a story. One such story is the arrest of Marlon MONTGOMERY. He was arrested on Tuesday, June 17th, after a federal grand jury indicted him for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Task force officers, including ATF, arrested MONTGOMERY at a Bossier City apartment complex. During the arrest, an additional firearm, .380 caliber Highpoint pistol was seized which was in his possession.

Another such story was Michael RICHARDSON who was arrested in the early morning hours at his Shreveport home for Cruelty to a Juvenile.

Finally, while officers were arresting Rico TANNER for Possession of Narcotics, officers searched Samuel DONOVAN who was also inside the home and found a loaded .22 caliber revolver, $300 cash, and a small amount of powder cocaine and marijuana on his person.

Previous FALCON operations in Shreveport netted 272 arrests in 2005, 153 arrests in 2006, and 188 arrests in 2007. Some ask, what do the U.S. Marshals do on a daily basis and why have operations like FALCON and AUILA? The Marshals have many duties, one of which if to manage local and regional fugitive task forces. There are currently more that ninety (90) district fugitive task forces managed by the U.S. Marshals. These task forces net over 56,000 state and local arrests each year. The vast majority of these arrests are violent felons on the run posing a danger to our fellow citizens. Operations such as FALCON and AGUILA exist to pool the various resources from the federal, state, and local governments and use those resources in a concerted effort to locate and arrest violent fugitives.
