Man charged with 3 overnight convenience store robberies

A man arrested by Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office early this morning is now facing robbery charges in connection with three robbery incidents that occurred overnight.

Kevin Young, 19, has been charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of attempted armed robbery. Young is believed to have gone to three different convenience stores on a brief crime spree that ended after he was taken into custody by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office. He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for battering a deputy who had stopped his vehicle because it matched the description of the vehicle used in the robberies.

Young is accused of entering the Circle K in the 3300 block of Bert Kouns around 1 a.m. today. He entered the store with a pistol, pointed it at the clerk and demanded money from the register. He got the cash and fled the scene by car.

Shortly thereafter, he is believed to attempted to rob the Circle K store in the 6300 block of Jefferson Paige Road, but the door was locked, so he couldn't get inside the store. The suspect then fled the scene.

About 2:33 a.m., Young is accused of entering the Mobil station in the 6900 block of West Bert Kouns and robbing the clerk. After he displayed a weapon, the clerk handed him the money and he fled.

While patrol officers were responding to the Mobil robbery, it was learned that a Caddo deputy had a possible suspect in custody and had located the suspect vehicle. He was taken into custody after resisting and battering the deputy.

Meanwhile, detectives were able to retrieve surveillance video of the holdups and determine that Young was pictured on the videotapes as being the robber. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail and is awaiting transfer back to CCC.
