Second suspect arrested in robbery/homicide
Shreveport Police have arrested a second person in connection with the first-degree murder of a pawn shop clerk.
Jarred Hullaby, 30, of Shreveport was taken into custody early this morning on a charge of first-degree murder. Hullaby has been identified as an active participant in implementing and carrying out the robbery and subsequent murder at Max's Pawn Shop on Friday afternoon.
Pawn Shop employee Matthew Robert, 30, was fatally shot during a robbery attempt that occurred about 2:40 p.m. in the 8500 block of Linwood Avenue on Friday.
On Sunday, the alleged shooter - 21-year-old Tarsa Ray Cooley of Shreveport - was arrested at a home in the 400 block of West 76th Street. He was found hiding in a closet with two weapons. He was very combative at the time of his arrest.
Detectives spent their Father's Day meticulously working the case, locating suspects, witnesses and evidence related to Friday's crime spree that included a carjacking, three other armed robberies and murder.
So far, Cooley has been charged with numerous felonies in connection with the crimes. Besides first-degree murder, he is charged with armed robbery for the carjacking of a citizen in the 5900 block of Youree Drive, the attempted armed robbery of Family Dollar on Kings Highway, and the armed robbery of a customer who was inside the Family Dollar store. He also is charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and was wanted by Louisiana Probation and Parole for a probation violation.
Meanwhile, Hullaby is facing a charge of first-degree murder, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of Schedule I and possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance.
