Fatality victim identified

Shreveport Police are investigating a fatality that occurred in the 6500 block of Buncombe Road on Sunday night.

The incident occurred about 10:40 p.m. while Gary David Price, 39, of Phoenix, Arizona was walking on the side of the road when he was struck by a 2000 Ford Focus. The Focus was headed eastbound on Buncombe when the incident occurred. Price was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Focus, Velma Jean Johnson, age and address unknown, reportedly was talking to a passenger in the car when the crash occurred. She was cited for no driver's license, and the case remains under investigation. Once completed, it will be forwarded to the district attorney's office for review on whether any other charges will be filed.
