Jeep found in river

Shreveport Police and the Caddo Sheriff's Office worked to fish out a vehicle discovered in the waters of the Red River off Stoner Boat Launch about 7 a.m. today.

The 1996 white Jeep Cherokee had been reported stolen from Bossier City in 2001. The insurance company, which had ownership of the recovered vehicle, had it towed to an auction barn in the 5200 block of Greenwood Road.

The vehicle was found by work crews digging in the area, which flooded heavily earlier this month.

No human remains were located inside the Jeep, and it does not appear that its abandonment is connected to a violent crime.
