FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Man hit by train

A 44-year-old Shreveport man is lucky to be alive today after being run over by a train downtown this morning.

Kenneth Priest was walking along the railroad trellis that runs across the Red River from Bossier City into Shreveport when the train approached about 9 a.m. Priest began running to get off the tracks before the train arrived. But the train couldn't stop in time, and Priest was pinned underneath about 50 to 75 yards from the end of the bridge.

It took about an hour and a half for rescue crews to extract Priest and take him to LSU Hospital.

He was issued a summons for trespassing on railroad property.

Information can be left with Crime Stoppers at 673-7373 or by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.crimestoppersshreveportcaddo.com.
