Flooding information and updates
CADDO PARISH EVACUATIONS
The Caddo Sheriff's Office has assisted with evacuations of five people and a dog on Stagecoach Road in south Caddo Parish. Deputies with the Sheriff's Marine Patrol used boats to remove families from two households surrounded by more than six feet of water.
The residents were taken to higher ground, where they were picked up by other family members. Deputies are continuing to check homes in the neighborhood to assist with other evacuations if needed.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR ABANDONED CAR GOT TOWED
All vehicles that are towed because they were abandoned in the roadway are being taken to Shreveport Central Storage at 5240 Greenwood Road. People can call the business at 631-7225 to make arrangements to pick up their vehicle or to have it towed somewhere else. They are responsible for the tow fees, so motorists are encouraged to pick up their cars as soon as possible.
DECEASED PERSON ON EUCLID NOT WEATHER RELATED
The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office reports that the man who died after being found in his vehicle in the 600 block of Euclid did not drown in flood waters. His death appeared to be because of a medical problem.
HOSPITALS
LSU Health Sciences Center has cancelled all of its elective surgeries today because of boilers being affected by flooding in the basement. The hospital is also diverting its emergency room traffic to other hospitals.
Willis-Knighton Pierremont and the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center are also diverting emergency traffic to other facilities. Also, there is a boil advisory at Willis-Knighton South.
Information can be left with Crime Stoppers at 673-7373 or by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.crimestoppersshreveportcaddo.com.
