Metal stolen from Vo-Tech

Shreveport police are looking for a man wanted in connection with the theft of 6,500 pounds of metal used by the Welding Department of Louisiana Technical Institute (Vo-Tech).

Ronnie Morris is wanted for felony theft of the metal, which was reported stolen from the school located in the 2000 block of North Market Street on April 7. He is also wanted for theft from the scrap metal dealer who paid him several hundreds of dollars for the stolen goods.

Detectives have located approximately 1,500 pounds of that stolen metal at Commercial Metals in the 3600 block of Hollywood in Shreveport. The remaining 5,000 pounds is still missing.

The total value of the stolen metal is about $3,500. Commercial Metals is going to reimburse Vo-tech for the metal they purchased. Meanwhile, detectives are looking for Morris and the remaining stolen steel.

Detective Roger Courtney also looking for other potential victims who may have experienced metal thefts from their businesses in North Shreveport. If anyone has not reported a theft, they should do so and then contact Detective Courtney at 673-6985.
