UPDATE: Morris Mitchell, 21, of Shreveport was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on a charge of second-degree robbery.
Mitchell was taken into custody after information obtained in the investigation resulted in him being identified as the suspect who beat up the store manager while trying to shoplift some items.

The manager of a Family Dollar store in the 200 block of West 84th Street was injured today (April 8) after getting into a scuffle with a man who was trying to shoplift items from the store. The manager was taken to Willis-Knighton South with non life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, detectives are trying to determine the identity of the shoplifter, who is now wanted for second-degree robbery. The suspect is described as a black male, 5'9-5'10" tall with a medium build. He was wearing dark clothing and had a low hair cut. The incident took place about 11 a.m. The video of the scuffle has been placed in the media box, in hopes that the media will run the video and people will recognize the robber.
