Two brothers arrested for having gun at school

An 11-year-old boy and his 15-year-old brother were booked into the Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center for an incident in which a handgun was found on a school campus.

The .22-caliber handgun was found in the boy's coat pocket after school mates reported it to authorities at Midway Elementary School in the 3800 block of Greenwood Road. It was unloaded and at this time, there is no indication that the child intended to hurt anyone.

The younger boy said he took the gun from his 15-year-old brother. The brother, who is a middle school student, said he purchased the gun on the street. It is unknown at this time whether the gun had been reported stolen.

The 11-year-old boy is charged with possessing of a firearm on school campus, and the brother is charged with being a principal to possessing a firearm on school campus.
