Shreveport Police are looking for the parents of a young child found wandering at West 70th Street and Mansfield Road about 2:30 this afternoon. The black female, who appears to be 2 or 3 years old, was picked up by a good Samaritan who saw the child and stopped to pick her up out of traffic, so she wouldn't get hurt. After inquiring in a nearby apartment complex if anyone knew the child, the woman took the child to her work and contacted police. Child Protection took the child into custody, but the parents or family of this child is unknown. She was wearing a purple hooded jacket with Spongebob Pants and white, lighted sandles with flowers on them. She seems to answer to the name "Ne-Ne," or something like that. The woman, who is not being identified at this time, is to be commended for her quick actions that probably saved the child from harm. If anyone has information about this child or her parents, contact Detective Michael Carter at 673-7020, Shreveport Police at 673-BLUE or Crime Stoppers at 673-7373. -spd- NO PHOTO OF THIS CHILD IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. WE ARE WORKING TO GET ONE IN CASE IT NEEDS TO BE RELEASED. BUT PLEASE DO NOT WAIT FOR PHOTO. PUT THIS ON THE NEWS ASAP! Information can be left with crimestoppers at 673-7373 or by logging onto the crimestoppers website at www.crimestoppersshreveportcaddo.com. -spd- View all SPD press releases at www.ci.shreveport.la.us/dept/police/spdnews |
