Montrell Hardman case

Shreveport Police today requested a warrant be recalled against Mondrell Hardman -- accused of shooting at a Shreveport police officer -- pending further investigation.

On Thursday (Jan. 31), Cpl. Darrel Miller reported that a man in a gray Chevy car fired a shot at him on Interstate 20 as he drove home from completing his shift. His driver's side window had been shattered, but he was uninjured.

On Saturday night, (Feb. 2), a Bossier City police officer was shot at by Hardman, and a warrant was obtained for Hardman's arrest in that case. At that time, Hardman was described to be driving a light green Chevy car.

After Hardman was pinpointed as the suspect in the Bossier case, Shreveport detectives got with Cpl. Miller, and Cpl. Miller identified Hardman as the person who also shot at him. SPD obtained a warrant for Hardman's arrest for attempted first-degree murder.

Hardman turned himself into the Bossier City Police Department on Monday.

This afternoon, the Shreveport warrant was rescinded. Detectives will continue working the case, gathering more evidence and piecing together the facts of this shooting.

"We want to be sure that we don't charge anyone with such a serious crime unless our investigation proves that person is responsible," said Chief of Police Henry Whitehorn.

Meanwhile, Hardman remains in Bossier custody on a $1 million bond.
