Shooting on Jackson Street

Shreveport Police responded to a shooting in the 3600 block of Jackson Street this morning around 10 a.m.

Veronica O'Neal, 47, of Shreveport called police, saying she had been shot. When police arrived at the scene, they had to make forced entry into the home, because the doors were locked.

O'Neal was found alone and unconscious, with a handgun near her. She was taken to LSU Hospital where she was listed in good condition this afternoon.

Detectives responded to the scene and at first did not know if the shooting was accidental, self-inflicted or intentional by someone else.

After looking at evidence and speaking with witnesses, the case is no longer being worked as an attempted homicide.
