Shreveport Police Dept. Phone: 318/673-6932 Fax: 318/673-6933 Contact: Kacee Hargrave, Public Information Officer FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The person who helped lead police to the whereabouts of the man who shot a Shreveport Police officer will get the $10,000 reward that was offered.
The person, whose name will not be released because of confidentiality, contacted the police in good faith and was instrumental in helping detectives identify and get the location of Lucien Trammell, who fled to Houston, Texas.
The reward was offered Tuesday night, just hours after Officer John Madjerick was shot in the face in the 7100 block of Suntan.
Chief Henry Whitehorn approached the Shreveport police union with the request that they put up reward money for information leading to Trammell's capture. The union agreed to the request, and the reward offer was then released to the public via news media.
"After discussing the reward money with the union president, the union has agreed that the reward is justified and will be given to the person who was most instrumental in Trammell's capture," said Henry Whitehorn, Chief of Police.
"Citizen cooperation and the relationships we have with the residents are growing stronger each day. It is this type of teamwork that is helping to make Shreveport the next great city of the South."
