Man wanted for shooting Police officer
A citywide manhunt is underway for a man who is wanted for attempting to kill a Shreveport police officer. Lucien Trammell, 25, of Shreveport is wanted for attempted first-degree murder.
Meanwhile, family members, city leaders and police officers arrived en masse at LSU Hospital today to pray for and support 23-year-old Officer John Madjerick, who was shot in the head about noon today.
Officer Madjerick, who has been on the force for about 1 year, was working a special burglary operation when he stopped the suspect, who was later identified as Trammell, to question him about recent burglaries in the neighborhood.
The subject shot Officer Madjerick and fled the scene. A very short time later, a police sergeant found him with the gunshot wound and called for assistance.
Officer Madjerick was transported to LSU Hospital, where he is listed in serious but stable condition.
Within minutes, police swarmed the area around the crime scene in the 7100 block of Suntan, forming a perimeter to search for the shooter.
Trammell is believed to frequent the Sunset Acres/Valley View area, as well as Cedar Grove. Call Crime Stoppers at 673-7373 with information.
Information can be left with crimestoppers at 673-7373 or by logging onto the crimestoppers website at www.crimestoppersshreveportcaddo.com.
