3 arrested after hit and run accident
Shreveport Police arrested three people after a hit-and-run crash this afternoon.
The accident occurred at 2 p.m. in the 100 block of East 70th Street at Interstate 49. Randi Y. Lee, 25, of Shreveport received neck and back injuries and was transported to Highland-Schumpert.
Lee's 2002 Honda Accord was turning from I-49 South onto E. 70th Street when she was struck in the right rear by a Chevy pickup truck driven by Raymundo Alarcon, 34, address unknown. The truck was headed west on West 70th Street when it failed to stop for the red light.
Three men in the truck fled from the scene and were captured about two blocks away. Two of the men were caught near 70th and Dowdell. Meanwhile, the driver hid from police and was later found by a police K-9, which bit the suspect on the arm. He was transported to LSU Hospital to be treated for the injury to his arm.
Alarcon is charged with felony hit and run and operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States. Meanwhile, Rigoberto Ramirez, 37, and Jose Martinez, 23, were arrested and charged with resisting an officer.
All three suspects are from Mexico. Federal authorities will be notified to examine their immigration status and determine whether they will be deported back to their home country.
