Fatal wreck on Atkins

A 63-year-old Shreveport man died after his car crashed on Alexander Street near the intersection of Atkins Street at 2:30 a.m. today.

John Davis of the 3300 block of Alexander was driving his 2006 Hummer H3 when he ran off the roadway, driving through a yard and crashing into a large tree.

He was taken to LSU Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

It was reported that Davis had been drinking prior to the accident.
