One person arrested for Friday night shooting
Shreveport police have arrested one man in connection with a shooting which occurred last night shortly after 7 o'clock PM.
The shooting happened in the 2900 block of Peach Street in north Shreveport. Albert Battson, Black Male DOB 12-20-79, arrived at his mothers apartment where he was confronted by Derick Allen, a black male DOB 10-28-79.
That was when the alleged suspect Derick Allen walked up to the victim and pointed a gun at Battson. Allen shot Battson striking him in both legs. Battson was later transported to LSU with non-life threatening wounds.
Officers responding to the shooting saw a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle seen leaving the shooting just a short time later. Officers were able to detain Derick Allen without incident in the 3000 block of North Market.
Allen has been charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Homicide and a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Allen was booked into the City Jail and later Transferred to CCC.
