Update to two arrested for overnight shooting

Clarification/update to this case: The car pulled over was believed to be the car involved in the shooting from earlier in the evening. It fit the description, but we don't know if that was indeed the car. Also, after reviewing the statements from those involved, detectives believe that the person who allegedly pointed the weapon at Cpl. Lensey was not the person captured, and the gun that was pointed at her was not a Mac 10. It was a handgun. That handgun and another handgun were recovered in the area, while the Mac 10 was found inside the car. 

Shreveport Police Department has arrested two people and is looking for information regarding three others in connection with a shooting last night in the MLK neighborhood.

Jeremy Taylor, 18, and Rieco Bryant, 20, both of Shreveport were captured by Shreveport police after Cpl. Tisha Lensey noticed the car they were in was involved in a shots fired call earlier in the evening in the 1700 block of Joe Louis.

Taylor, Bryant and three others in the car led Lensey on a pursuit throughout the MLK neighborhood and bailed out of the car near a cemetery on Willis Street. When they ran, one of the suspects was armed with a Mac 10 and allegedly pointed it at Lensey. Lensey fired one shot from her service weapon, but no one was reportedly struck. She then captured the driver, who was Bryant.

Taylor was captured a short distance away by Lt. Bobby Wilbert. The Mac 10 also was recovered. The others, whose identities are unknown, fled toward the Peach Street Apartments.

Taylor is charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, while Bryant is charged with felony flight from an officer. The case remains under investigation.
