FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Man arrested for downtown hit and run
Shreveport police have arrested a man who caused a 2-car accident and then fled the scene at Spring and Texas this morning.
The accident occurred about 5:30 a.m. when Robert Kemp, 24, of Bossier reported ran a red light. Kemp's Ford Taurus was on Texas Avenue headed toward the Texas Street bridge at the intersection of Spring Street when it collided with a pickup truck driven by Charles Lattin, 30, of Shreveport. Lattin was headed north on Spring Street.
Lattin was not seriously injured, but Kemp's passenger -- 41-year-old Sang Nguyen of Shreveport -- received serious injuries and was transported to Schumpert Medical Center. Nguyen was later transferred to LSU Hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.
Kemp fled the scene on foot. Detectives were able to track him down to a motel in Bossier City. After questioning, he was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on a charge of hit and run.
