FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Three arrests clear multiply auto burglaries

Shreveport Police today announced the arrests of three people believed to have broken into cars in the Broadmoor and Springlake neighborhoods during the month of February.

David Witsman, 20, Davis Self, 18, and Anthony Rosati, 17, all of Shreveport, were arrested on Thursday after one of the men attempted to use a stolen credit card at Mall St. Vincent. That card was one of several stolen during a rash of auto burglaries.

An investigation revealed the suspects not only entered cars, but Witsman and Self also will be charged with an incident that occurred at Whataburger on Bert Kouns several weeks ago. Witsman is believed to have urinated on the front door of the business after employees would not let him in to use the restroom. He will be charged with obscenity in connection with his actions. Immediately following the urination incident, Self allegedly got a gun and pointed it at the employees. He will be charged with aggravated assault for his actions.

The investigation continues, but so far the arrests will clear about 30 auto burglaries -- at least 17 that occurred in Broadmoor on Feb. 5 and at least 10 that occurred on Feb. 28 in Springlake. In many cases, the suspect stole change and credit cards, but one handgun was also taken. No property has been recovered.

Self is currently charged with felony burglary; Rosati is charged with felony burglary and possession of Schedule III (Xanax) and Witsman is charged with felony theft. However, more charges will be filed as investigators continue the investigation.
