FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oil Spill

Shreveport police diverted traffic on Interstate 20 this afternoon until the Department of Transportation could clean up an oil spill caused when an 18-wheeler hit a metal pipe in the roadway.

The pipe punctured the truck's oil pan, causing eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 near Hearne Avenue to be covered in oil.

The slick road caused a 2002 Honda Civic driven by 21-year-old Dyeshana Mills of Shreveport to lose control and strike the median. She was transported by ambulance to LSU Hospital with moderate injuries.

The road is now back open, with traffic flowing in both directions.

The driver of the truck, Wllliam Charles Beltram, 52, of Stockton, California, was not injured or ticketed.[
