Teacher investigated for simple battery

A Shreveport teacher from Northside Elementary is wanted for simple battery. Bond is set at $1,000.

Lawrence Jefferson, 45, is wanted in connection with the striking of a student at the school. The battery reportedly occurred shortly after that student was involved in an incident with Jefferson's son at the school a couple of weeks ago.

Police had to secure an arrest warrant after Jefferson's attorney declined to turn him into police to handle the matter on Friday.

It is hoped that Jefferson will now turn himself into police.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 673-7300 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
